Green is good for our health
The garden, luxuriant and full of shade-blooming plants, is created by the father of a diabetic child, Massimo Antonelli, a nurseryman from Ameglia (SP), who wished to develop this project, which is made up of information, feelings and, of course, flowers, to support research at the Meyer University Hospital – Florence.
The garden, which features a blue circle, the world symbol for diabetes, is intended to commemorate World Diabetes Day, which takes place every year on 14 November and is the diabetes community’s main worldwide awareness campaign.
The Meyer Children’s Hospital in Florence, one of the oldest institutions dedicated to children, is at the forefront of scientific research on childhood diabetes, as it has the care and well-being of children at heart.
