The spa towns of Europe
For over fifty years, the Austrian city Baden bei Wien has been linked to Cervia and has participated in Città Giardino for over twenty years. It was 1967 when summer holidays for children began in Cervia-Pinarella-Milano Marittima. Since then, the friendship between the two cities has intensified, so much so that in 2016 the spa town was also the host of the Wedding of the Sea.
The garden in Piazza dell’Unità in Pinarella is a synthesis of the wonderful green areas of this cosy town on the edge of the Vienna Woods. Baden’s Doblhoffpark, home to Austria’s largest rose garden, with its 30,000 rose specimens of more than 600 different varieties, which have been cared for by the spa park’s gardeners for 200 years, is reproduced here in a series of flowerbeds in which the Baden bei Wien rose, hybridised by Kordes, also has its place.
