TRIBUTE TO DANTE
Approaching the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s death, Cervia Municipality wanted to involve the pupils of Cervia’s schools so that they could offer their artistic contribution. Through the use of the wood recovered from the beach and decorated by school pupils, the land art artist Oscar Dominguez created a sculpture, assembling all the material collected. This was a highly participatory project, where each young artist could see his or her own wood decorated. At the same time, pupils could learn the value of what we can all build together: United we always win.
Many grains of sand create the beach, many little woods form a sculpture. The Municipality of Cervia’s Green Service Department set up the large flower patches using Impatiens walleriana Beacon in five colours (white, red, purple, orange and salmon pink).
The following schools took part in the project:
- Primary School “Gianni Rodari” IC Cervia 3 Section A – Section B – Section C – Section D
- Secondary school IC Cervia 3 Classes 1 D – 2 F – 3 D – 3 E
