A garden for freedom
Ukraine, hosted for the first time at Garden City, is one of the oldest countries in Europe. The country is going through difficult times, due to the aggression by the Russian Federation; their brave defenders have been fighting for more than a year for freedom and independence.
It is this heroism that is reflected in the symbols of Ukraine, the coat of arms and some traditional embroidery reproduced in some flower beds. The trident symbol is an ancient sign, a mystical symbol of the three-dimensionality of the world. In contrast, embroidery, which goes back to women’s traditional clothing, is a symbol of health and beauty, love and celebration.
It is this combination of symbols and colours that was chosen by the gardeners of Ternopil to convey to those who admire their garden the beauty and love of freedom of the Ukrainian people.
