Works of art for peace and the history of a city
In its garden, Treviglio tells of peace and history through the works of art created by its artists. Sculptor Bruno Manenti, a veteran of this event, created a dead tree that comes to life, and an angel representing peace and protection from danger.
Glass artist Giuliano Gaigher wanted to dedicate his work this year to the Bread of the Miracle, faithfully reproducing, on glass, this bread, which is the result of a 500-year-old recipe and re-proposed to the city for this important anniversary. This poor men’s bread, originally tasteless because salt in those days was for the rich and a rare commodity on the plains of Bergamo in the 16th century, was produced for this occasion using sweet salt from Cervia.
The three crosses on the bread represent the three churches from whose union the City of Treviglio was born. The sculpture of a woman raising her eyes to the sky by Stefano Travi, dedicated to the freedom of all women, completes the garden.
In 2019, the Municipality of Treviglio with the presence of Legambiente Terre del Gerundo and Cooperativa Sociale Insieme wanted to demonstrate the commitment for the defence of the environment and of the human fragility.
In practice, they work to build a network in solidarity and harmony with the world around us. In addition to the guys from the social cooperative that employs people with disabilities, three local artists who in various ways recycle materials found in nature also collaborated on the setting: Silver Plachesi, Giuliano Gaigher and Bruno Manenti.
Also in 2021 due to the health emergency, the set-up was restored by the Green Service of the Municipality of Cervia.
